International Summerschool "Histories of Resistance" in Bogotá, Colombia.
The International Summer School "Histories of Resistance" of the University of Kassel, organized in collaboration with Universidad del Rosario, Escuela de Ciencias Humanas and documenta Institut Kassel, took place as a workshop on negotiations of memory and archiving in regard to political and ecological conflicts in Latin America from 4 to 15 September 2023 in Bogotá.
The cooperation of the documenta Institute led by documenta Professor Liliana Gómez and her team from the “Kunst und Gesellschaft” department - supported by Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos (CELA) and CAPAZ - German-Colombian Peace Institute - invited around 30 young researchers and artists to Bogotá for a transdisciplinary exchange.
The program included exchanges with various academics and renowned artists such as Beatriz González and Fernando Arias, as well as visits to important institutions in Bogotá, such as the Archivo General de la Nación and the Centro de Memoria, Paz y Reconciliación. In addition, a program of events was offered to the public at the Museo Nacional de Colombia, the Universidad del Rosario and La Casa de la Paz/La Trocha with renowned researchers and artists. A highlight was the lecture by Michael Taussig, one of the most innovative and distinguished anthropologists and writers and one of the most socially engaged voices in cultural anthropology.
The Summer School was generously funded by the DAAD - the German Academic Exchange Service - with funds from the German Federal Foreign Office.
