On 07.03.2023 the monograph "Archive Matter - A Camera in the Laboratory of the Modern", written by Liliana Goméz, was published by Diaphanes Verlag.
In the publication, the documenta professor examines the archive of the United Fruit Company - known today as Chiquita Brands International. The photographic archive is conceived of as a place whose photographs emerge simultaneously as witnesses to the times and carriers of action. Reading the photographic archive against the grain, this book examines the images from within their “optical unconscious” and via the archive’s silences and omissions. As residues they attest to the (in)visibility and cultural implications of the violence of the radical man-made environmental alterations.
