Clouds, Power and Ornament – Roving Central Asia

The exhibition Clouds, Power and Ornament - Roving Central Asia will be held at the Centre for Heritage, Arts & Textile in Hong Kong's Tsuen Wan District from Feb. 25 to May 21, 2023. Among the group of curators is documenta professor Mi You together with Alexandra Tsay, Wang Weiwei and the collective Slavs and Tatars.

Traditional textiles and textile processing techniques such as ikat, felt, suzani and syrmak make up the distinctive textile culture of Central Asia. Based on an examination of traditional textile materials and processing methods, this exhibition aims to show how political, social and cultural dimensions are interwoven within the textile culture and how these can be made visible.
