On May 17, Michael Taussig will speak about What Can Art Say About Extraction Anyway? Notes from Goldfields in Western Colombia at the Museum der Kulturen Basel. The event will be broadcast on YouTube. This is a catch-up event in the context of the already completed exhibition Extractive Zones, which was co-curated by documenta professor Liliana Gómez. The exhibition Extractive Zones at the Museum der Kulturen Basel dealt with social ecologies and the - often indigenous - spaces that are still characterized today by a high level of biodiversity on the one hand and a long history of resource extraction, (neo)colonial relations and extractivism on the other.
