Anti-Semitism against Israel
Klaus Holz in conversation with Heinz Bude
As part of the series Vergiftete Verhältnisse - Gespräche zur Gegenwartskunst, Heinz Bude will be talking to Klaus Holz at the research station on Lutherplatz on May 17 at 6 pm. The initial question of the evening: What is anti-Semitism against Israel?
For Klaus Holz, anti-Semitism directed against Israel is not a special case. In his opinion, it is rather based on fundamental patterns of modern anti-Semitism in general. This applies to anti-Semitism from the left, post-Nazi anti-Semitism, Islamist anti-Semitism and, in his opinion, anti-racist identity politics. In conversation with Heinz Bude, he explains the many cross-connections within a global field of discourse that is anchored in the hostile attitude towards Israel.
The sociologist and anti-Semitism researcher Klaus Holz is Secretary General of the Protestant Academies in Germany and part of the Independent Expert Group on Anti-Semitism of the German Federal Government. He has published numerous essays and books on the subject of anti-Semitism. These include National Anti-Semitism. Wissenssoziologie einer Weltanschauung (2001), Die Gegenwart des Antisemitismus. Islamische, demokratische und antizionistische Judenfeindschaft (2005) and in 2021, together with Thomas Haury, Antisemitismus gegen Israel.
