Filmscreening “I truly believe everything is accidental”
03 / 2026
As part of the accompanying program for the exhibition The China Moment. Contextualizing Individualism in Chinese Contemporary Art, which runs until March 22, 2026, at the Kasseler Kunstverein, we invite you to the film screening of I truly believe everything is accidental. Four artist portraits at the BALi Kinos.
Date: Saturday, March 7, 2026
Time: 3 pm
Venue: BALi Kinos, Rainer-Dierichs-Platz 1, 34117 Kassel
The films by Xiang Jing, Ronja Yu, Zang Honghua and Zhao Yinou portray artists from different generations and backgrounds and show how individual artistic attitudes have developed under their own historical, social, and personal circumstances. Between studio, everyday life, and public space, they open up access to very different forms of working—from performance and photography to conceptual practices and intimate drawing processes.
Complementing the exhibition, the film program explores central questions raised by The China Moment about individual positioning, artistic self-assertion, and the relationship between personal experience and social environment.
Curated by Mi You, Su Wei, and Anna-Lisa Scherfose, The China Moment marks the first research exhibition by the documenta Institut.
