Mining: Mining the future and Anthropos Antigone. Interdisciplinary discussion at the Staatstheater Kassel

An interdisciplinary discussion in the context of the production ANTHROPOS ANTIGONE (UA) and the nationwide, interdisciplinary exhibition project MINING. ABBAU DER ZUKUNFT on the topic: The human resource

The extraction of raw materials for energy, the struggle for resources and their destructive consequences for the environment and the future of the planet are constantly being debated. Forms of so-called extractivism, ranging from the mining of mineral resources or the recycling of raw materials to phytomining and deep sea and deep space mining, feature in public discussions alongside plans for the ecological transformation of our society. But how does this really go together when there is increased environmental pollution and the destruction of people's livelihoods in the countries of origin? Getting to the bottom of these contradictions and semantic struggles, claiming the rights of nature and highlighting the consequences for the population in Latin America, for example, is the focus of the work of the invited guests from various disciplines. Together we ask: What can art, what can theater contribute to the topic of resource extraction on stage and in what language? Just continue to hold up a mirror? Shake things up? Instruct?

Come and talk to our guests about this topic over coffee and cake on Sunday afternoon and then experience a performance of the ancient update Anthropos Antigone by Alexander Eisenach. The production uses the means of theater to link the themes of deep sea mining and activism (Last Generation of Labdakids) on the backdrop of the ancient tragedy
