"The China Moment" in Venice: Screening program in cooperation with Berggruen Institute Europe
04 / 2026
The documenta Institut is pleased to announce the screening program “The China Moment” at the Casa dei Tre Oci in Venice in cooperation with the Berggruen Institute Europe. In four screenings on April 9 and 10, a selection of works previously shown at the eponymous exhibition at the Kasseler Kunstverein (24.01.–22.03.26) will be presented.
Date: April 9–10, 2026
Venue: Casa dei Tre Oci, 30133 Venice (Italy)
Over two evenings, the program presents a selection of films and video works from the 1990s to the present. The works reflect artistic responses to profound social, political, and economic transformations in China. Moving between documentary, performance, and fiction, they trace shifting structures, fragile forms of presence, and changing conditions of visibility, offering distinct perspectives on how individuals navigate and reimagine their place within these developments.
The screenings will be accompanied by conversations with participating artists and curators, who will provide insights into the creation of the works and their respective contexts.
