Art and Post-Capitalism: Art and Economies Open Seminars

Documenta Institut invites everyone interested to take part in the Art and Post Capitalism seminars, where we will discuss and compare historical and contemporary perspectives on artistic speculation as a means of political transformation.

We will engage in dialogues with artists who situate themselves within the field of political and speculative art practices and with theoreticians who examine such situatedness. We explore how emerging technologies associated with current financial systems—such as forecasting, scenario planning, and other speculative infrastructures – could be utilized towards more progressive goals.

We will investigate the potential of speculative knowledge to interrogate emergent technologies, challenge established paradigms and encourage public participation and critical dialogue. Furthermore we will examine what role speculative, artistic thinking and methodologies can play as part of this process.
